Our immersive experiences
For almost a month at the end of 2017, ‘Street Art Museum: Uthina, Myths and Legends’ transformed the archaeological site of Uthina, located about thirty kilometres from Tunis, into an immersive space through exhibitions and activities combining video, architecture, scenography, installation and ‘mapped’ graffiti.
‘Street Art Museum: Uthina, Myths and Legends’ is part of a dynamic shift in cultural mediation within museums and archaeological sites in Tunisia.
This has involved developing new approaches to cultural mediation and highlighting innovative models of civic engagement among young Tunisians to protect and promote their cultural heritage.
The project was led by mediators, designers, historians, archaeologists, artists, graphic designers, directors, videographers and sound designers.
Divided into five groups, they shared their ideas and proposed scenarios for interpreting mythological scenes (such as Ulysses and the sirens, Orpheus, etc.) retracing the history of the Roman city of Uthina, located about thirty kilometres from the capital, Tunis. The result is a collection of works combining video, architecture, scenography, installation and ‘mapped’ graffiti.
The talent of some and the experience of others make this innovative experiment truly unique.
