Our immersive experiences

Promoting and making the masterpieces of Tunisia’s museums accessible to as many people as possible through animated videos is the goal we have set ourselves with the ‘Hors les murs’ project.

We present five museum masterpieces that are essential to history and art history, analysed and animated in Tunisian Arabic (with English subtitles) and a touch of humour, in short videos that showcase the great diversity of artistic practices throughout the ages and the richness of this heritage.

The ‘Hors les murs’ project focuses on:

  • the mosaic of Ulysses and the sirens dating from the 3rd century AD from the archaeological site of Dougga,
  • the mosaic of Neptune and the four seasons dating from the 2nd century AD from the archaeological site of Chebba,
  • the mosaic of the boxers of Thuburbo Majus, dating from the 3rd century AD, from the site of Thuburbo Majus,
  • the bas-relief of the Deii Mauri from a site near Beja, dating from the 3rd century AD,
and the Blue Quran manuscript, dating from the end of the 8th century AD, discovered in Kairouan.

‘Hors les murs’ project was conducted in 2020 during lockdown through workshops led by members of our association and DCX in the form of online training for around thirty young people on promoting the masterpieces of Tunisian museums.
