This contextual work by artist Soufia Bensaïd is the result of a two-month contextual residency in Kef.
This relational work offers an unusual tour of the medina of Kef, along the ancient water circuit of Kef, ‘Rais El Ain’, the original source ingeniously exploited by the Romans. The public, one person at a time, blindfolded, is guided by an ‘angel’: the guide. Deprived of sight and guided step by step along the circuit, with predefined stopping points, the participant is invited to listen, to constantly bring their attention back to the sensory perception of their environment: the power of their feet, the wind on their skin, the smell of a neighbouring kitchen…
About Soufïa Bensaïd
Born in Tunisia, Soufia Bensaïd has lived in France and Quebec, among other places. She thus experiences her identity in flux, questioning shifts in perception and the existential foundations of individual identity through exhibitions, performances, workshops and interventions in public spaces. In 2012, she received a grant from Montréal Arts Interculturels
to develop her artistic career, followed by creative support from the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec and the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications.
