Our spaces and heritage tours
“Joujma” takes you on a sensory journey in the form of an audio tour to immerse yourself in Sufi heritage, discovering the brotherhoods that have passed through the city of Kef.
We offer you a better understanding of the history of the city’s four Sufi brotherhoods (Issawia, Rahmaniyya, Qadiria and Amaria) through their music and songs.
Accompanied by your guide, you will familiarise yourself with QR codes and, at each of the four places of worship, the ‘zaouïa’, learn more about their social, economic and political roles and the power of their music.
At the end of this tour, you will enjoy an immersive experience with VR headsets, watching a real ‘Hadra’ ceremony of the Issawia brotherhood filmed in 360° in Kef.
Mystical music has always occupied an important place in Tunisian society, drawing on a popular religious musical heritage that is more prevalent in zaouias than in secular events, despite their disappearance due to a sensitive political and religious context. From the early days of Islam, mystics developed vocal and breathing practices to control their bodies and emotional balance and attain a state of ecstatic grace, known as ‘wajd’.
‘Joujma’ is the result of a project developed by Mohamed Ali Rjibi, a beneficiary of the Patrimoni 1 training programme developed by our association, Museum Lab, since 2021.
